We do not refer to foods that are commonly associated with beer such as pizza or a Texas barbecue, nor to refined combinations proposed by beer sommeliers who pair up a particular dish with a particular type of beer. Instead we are talking about simple snacks that go well with beer and in particular:

– water crackers, Italian or English
– Japanese rice crackers with algae
– piadine (wraps) from Romagna
– taralli (dried bread knots) from Puglia
– farinata (chickpea bread) from Liguria or Uruguay (faina)
– toasted pumpkin seeds, Italian or Chinese
– German pretzels

Pretzels should be considered the beer snack par excellence, soft and delicate inside but with shiny brown crust covered with rock salt.
